Stadium

Ternopil City Stadium named after Roman Shukhevych

Ternopil, Ukraine

Formerly: Kolo parku, Avanhard Stadium

The ground on S. Bandera Avenue was Kolo parku — "near the park" — and it kept that name through the years when Polish club Kresy and the Podillya Sports Society played on it. The Soviet decades made it Avanhard .

What stands there now is largely the work of ten months in 1983–84, when the ground was rebuilt almost from scratch to house FC Nyva Ternopil , a project run by city head Anatoliy Kucherenko. The central stand and the administrative block were overhauled again around the turn of the millennium. Each round of work took seats out: from 18,500 before 2000 to 16,450 before 2011, and to 15,150 today — which is why the attendance record of 18,860, set at a Nyva match, is now beyond reach.

The pitch is rolled turf over a base replaced entirely in 2017, with electric heating beneath it. That mattered in May 2021, when Ternopil staged its first Ukrainian Cup Final : Dynamo Kyiv beat Zorya Luhansk 1–0. Dynamo returned for a cup semi-final against Bukovyna watched by 14,500, and in August 2025 Epicentr hosted Shakhtar here in front of 9,850.
