Bedwas RFC have called it home since 1947, when they took over the site and converted an ex-Ministry of Works hut into their first clubhouse. The rugby club built the dressing rooms and showers themselves.
Across the road, Trethomas Bluebirds AFC once played here before relocating to the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach. The Bridge Field has never been rebuilt or rebranded.
Bedwas RFC's most notable moment came in 2013, when they beat Welsh Premiership champions Neath RFC 20-18. They reached the inaugural Foster's Challenge Cup Final in 2016, losing to Pontypridd, and appeared in three consecutive Welsh Cup quarter-finals between 1977 and 1980. The club celebrated its centenary in 1989.
The capacity stands at 3,000, though no specific record attendance has been confirmed. The surface is natural grass.
