The O2 Belfast

The O2 Belfast sits in the Titanic Quarter. The Giants have played there since the doors opened in December 2000, and the refrigeration system keeps the concrete slab frozen year-round.

The building has changed hands twice in its name. It opened as the Odyssey Arena, then became the SSE Arena Belfast after a sponsorship deal. The current iteration, The O2 Belfast, begins in July 2026 under a ten-year partnership with Virgin Media O2. The structure itself remains largely unaltered since the original construction by Farrans and Gilbert-Ash. The capacity sits at 11,200 for standing events, though the seated configuration for hockey is lower.

Recent upgrades focused on digital infrastructure, installing over 500 square metres of high-brightness LED screens to enhance visibility for spectators.

The venue has a long history with combat sports. Boxer Carl Frampton fought six bouts here between 2010 and 2018 without a loss, including a Commonwealth title win. Mixed martial arts also found a home here, with UFC events held in the mid-2000s. Beyond sport, the arena has hosted major international tours and, during the pandemic, served as a vaccination centre.
