Torfnesvöllur (Kerecisvöllurinn)

Ísafjörður sits at the end of a single mountain road through the Westfjords, and the town's football ground occupies the flat land at Torfnes, wedged against the fjord with the sea wind running straight through it. There is nowhere else in town to play; this pitch carries the whole community's football.

Construction began in 1963 and the ground opened on 18 July 1964, first used by the sports union ÍBÍ. The Ísafjarðarbær municipality has owned it ever since. The name on the signage today, Kerecisvöllurinn, is a sponsor's label laid over the older name, Torfnesvöllur, which locals still use.

The pitch is listed as natural grass, though municipal planning papers from 2023 and 2024 describe work toward laying artificial turf as part of a renovation; it is not clear from those documents whether that covers the main playing surface or a training pitch alongside it.

The resident club, Vestri, plays out of this ground while competing in the second-tier 1. deild karla in the 2026 season, having come down from the Besta deild karla after the 2025 campaign. A club that has recently held its own in Iceland's top flight now draws its home crowds to a stand built for barely 1,600 people, in a town most of the country reaches only by the one road in or a ferry crossing.
