Toyama Stadium The facility opened in September 1993 for the National Sports Festival, a decade before it became the permanent home of the J2 League club Kataller Toyama. The club moved to the ground after their promotion in 2009, having previously played across several smaller local venues including Iwase Sports Park and the Gofuku Athletic Stadium.

Inside, the experience is dictated by the layout from when the stadium hosted baseball, though the stands are now filled with supporters wearing blue. The Japanese national team used the ground as a training base during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, but the stadium itself did not host any of the tournament's matches. The capacity was trimmed from nearly 28,500 to 25,251 following the 2000 upgrades, and the grass surface remains the same as it was when the architect Koichi Sone finished the project.

For the local fans, the stadium offers a rare sight: a large-scale ground that has never been sold to a private sponsor. The club continues to play under the official descriptive name rather than adopting a commercial title. The stands are often half-full.
