Turners Cross is not merely a football stadium in Cork. The 2007 redevelopment did more than install seats. Where the old Shed terrace once left the home end exposed to the elements, the Joe Delaney Stand now draws a roof over the supporters.
The Donie Ford Stand has been a constant presence through several eras of the club. The ground does not hide its history. It was here that the Munster Football Association began to lay claim to the site in the mid-twentieth century.
The MFA uses it for cup finals and international youth matches, but the primary function remains the weekly struggle of the local team.
It is a place that has survived Hurricane Ophelia and the occasional missile thrown by visiting fans.
