Twerton Park

Twerton Park is the football stadium in Bath, and though the city has moved on around it, the Grandstand was the first structure built in 1932, followed quickly by the Popular Side. Half of that side was destroyed by bombing in April 1941 and rebuilt in 1946–1947, which included constructing the Bath End terrace and moving the pitch westward.

The surface is natural grass, and a 2018 feasibility study to install an artificial 3G surface was rejected, so the club retained grass, though plans in 2025 include replacing floodlights and installing a new drainage system. The ground was built for crowds larger than the town itself; capacity reached a peak of approximately 20,000 in the 1950s and 1960s, with an official attendance record of 18,020 set on 9 January 1960 for an FA Cup Third Round match against Brighton & Hove Albion. Following the Taylor Report and safety regulations, capacity was reduced to a physical capacity of 8,840 (with 1,006 seats), though matchday safety certificates often cite a reduced capacity of approximately 3,528.

Bath City F.C. has been the primary tenant since 1932 and currently owns the stadium. Other tenants included Bristol Rovers (1986–1996), Team Bath FC (1999–2009), and Bristol City Women (2020–2021). The site originally opened as a public recreation ground named Innox Park on 26 June 1909. Heavy reconstruction occurred between 1986 and 1989 when Bristol Rovers used the ground, including new turnstiles, segregation fencing, and a new stand. Since August 2023, it has been officially known as Twerton Park in partnership with Bath Spa University, though the name "Twerton Park" has been retained in all official titles.
