Uni-Halle
Wuppertal, Germany
The Uni-Halle is a functional octagon, a building that sits on the campus of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and presents a face of steel and glass to the world. It rose from the ground over three years before opening its doors in November 1987.
The building is a place where the university meets the city. It welcomes students at the annual Schüler-Rockfestival. It also hosts the welcome ceremony for new students.
On the synthetic floor, the Bergischer HC plays handball. For other events, such as concerts or roller hockey tournaments, the space can accommodate up to 4,100 spectators.
It has also hosted basketball, when Union Baskets Schwelm used the venue during the 2004/2005 Basketball Bundesliga season. The floor has seen inline hockey, including the European Championship for Men in 2010.
