Vagharshak Tumasyan Stadium (Abovyan)

Vahagn Tumasyan Stadium has carried three names since it opened, and the latest is the newest by some distance: in 2022 the Abovyan ground was renamed for a local-born military intelligence officer killed in action during the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War in 2020. For its first four decades it went simply by Kotayk, after the surrounding region, and for a further sixteen years by the generic Abovyan City Stadium.

The ground has shrunk twice on its way to its current 3,100 seats. It held up to 5,500 in its original form; converting to an all-seater in 2006 brought that down to 3,946, and a further rebuild in 2021–2022 — new pitch, repaired stands and changing rooms, a roof added over the east side — settled it at 3,100. UEFA funded the work through its HatTrick programme, at a cost of roughly 1.5 million dollars, with the Football Federation of Armenia as client; the renovated stadium reopened in June 2022.

Kotayk were the resident club until 2005. What followed was unusual for a ground this size: lacking an adequate home in the capital, Yerevan sides Ararat and Pyunik used Abovyan as a stand-in venue for years afterwards, before FC Noah settled in as permanent tenant from the 2022/23 season.
