Van Atatürk Stadyumu
Van, Turkey
Formerly: Van Atatürk Stadium
The stadium in İpekyolu carries the name of a city that spent years absent from Turkey's football map after the 2011 earthquake reshaped what could be built and where. Vanspor FK held on here regardless, playing in front of just under six thousand seats — a number that never matched the club's ambitions but reflected what Van could sustain.
What set this ground apart was never its size. Opened in 1975, it carried on largely unchanged while other provincial stadiums around Turkey went through waves of renovation for league licensing standards. Van Atatürk stayed as it was, natural turf and modest stands, a venue that did its job without pretending to be anything more.
That changed in August 2026, when the stadium was demolished. The site is now earmarked for a different kind of project altogether: a new stadium built alongside a residential complex, with seating for 15,000 once complete. Vanspor FK's next home is expected to open around 2028, a jump in scale that will put the club in a very different bracket from the ground it is leaving behind.
