Vorskla Arena named after Alexey Butovsky

The Oleksiy Butovsky Vorskla Stadium in Poltava opened in 1951, originally carrying the name Urozhai, and has traded identities several times since, settling on Vorskla before gaining a surname in 2008.

The shape of the arena is defined by a running track that circles the pitch, separating the stands from the playing surface. The seats are arranged in blocks of yellow and blue, while the main entrance facade is painted in a pale green and white. Large green letters spell out the name across the top of the structure. You can see the floodlight towers standing tall on either side of the field, remnants of an expansion in the early 1970s that brought artificial light to the city.

The facilities have been updated over the decades. A modern dugout with a curved roof sits on the touchline, providing shelter for the coaching staff. Inside the stands, individual plastic seats replaced older structures during a renovation that also added an electronic scoreboard. The pitch itself is natural grass, prepared with an under-soil heating system to handle the local winters.

The stadium has hosted significant events, including the Ukrainian Cup Final on several occasions and the Super Cup in 2011. It remains the home of FC Vorskla Poltava, though the club has occasionally played elsewhere when circumstances demanded it. The capacity allows for roughly 24,000 spectators, a figure that dropped after the original construction peaked in the 1970s. It is a functional ground, built for matches and built to last.
