Xi'an International Football Center

The Xi'an International Football Center brings a new silhouette to the skyline of Shaanxi Province.

The venue was built for a tournament that never came to this city. China withdrew from hosting the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in 2022, and the event was instead held in Qatar. The ground took shape anyway, rising from the earth in Fengdong New Town to serve as a permanent home for local football. Shaanxi Union F.C. moved into the facility for the 2026 season, leaving behind the older Shaanxi Province Stadium and the Weinan Sports Center Stadium.

Before the home side arrived, the arena played host to the young Chinese national team. On September 3, 2025, the stadium hosted its first official match during the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, a contest between China and Timor-Leste. The pitch itself is cut with natural, cool-season grass, a surface that was originally laid two years before the opening and replaced in November 2025.

The capacity of the ground is 60,000. The official attendance record is 43,937, set during a China League One match on April 5, 2026, when Shaanxi Union defeated Shijiazhuang Gongfu 1–0. The entire project was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects in collaboration with Intelligent Design for Emerging Architecture, with local engineering provided by the Arcplus Institute of Shanghai Architectural Design & Research Co., Ltd. The general contractor was Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. The total investment for the stadium and associated cultural projects was reported as ¥8.05 billion.
