Zimní stadion Olomouc
Olomouc, Czechia
The Zimní stadion Olomouc is a sports venue that has adapted to a new purpose. The building features corrugated metal cladding. This exterior is a result of a major reconstruction between 1980 and 1982, which gave the arena its current form. Because of this distinctive siding, locals have long referred to it as the 'Plecharéna' or 'Kohoutí plecharéna'.
The structure is simpler. Designed by Matouš Vykoukal, a former player and coach for HC Olomouc, it sits atop the original wooden structure. The capacity is 5,500, a mix of 3,800 seated places and 1,700 standing areas that line the rink.
HC Olomouc has played here since the arena opened on January 25, 1948. The club won the inaugural Czech Extraliga title in the 1993–1994 season, defeating HC Pardubice in the finals. The highest attendance for a match was 3,071 for a playoff game against HC Dukla Jihlava on March 10, 2014.
