About the player
Carlos Romero Serrano came through the ranks at his hometown club, CF Torre Levante, before Villarreal signed him for their youth setup in May 2019.
The move that shaped his career came in July 2024, when Villarreal sent him out on loan to Espanyol for the 2024–25 season.
Romero has made 36 appearances across all competitions, 32 of them in La Liga, and scored six goals from left-back, form that earned him a place in the La Liga Team of the Season for 2025–26.
His performances have not gone unnoticed elsewhere. His market value has since been put at around €25 million. He has yet to be capped by Spain's senior side.
