Charlie Wellens

Charlie Wellens plays for a club managed by his father, Richie Wellens. He joined Leyton Orient on 12 August 2025 on a short-term contract that ran initially until January 2026.

He came through the Manchester United academy and signed his first professional contract in May 2020. He made no first-team appearances there. In the 2022–23 season he spent time on loan at Oldham Athletic, from September to January, and played six National League matches and scored once. United released him in 2023.

Reading signed him on a free transfer on 1 September 2023. He made no League One appearances for them. His three outings came in the EFL Trophy, starting with his debut in November 2023, a 5–2 win over Arsenal Under-21s. He left Reading in May 2025.

At Leyton Orient he has played more regularly. His first goal for the club came in the EFL Trophy. His first in League One came in a 3–2 win against Port Vale.

On 17 October 2025 he signed a two-year contract extension that runs to 30 June 2027. The deal includes an option for a third year, which depends on the number of appearances he makes.

He has not yet won a senior trophy or an individual award.
