About the player
Geoffrey Charles Chinedu arrived at FC Astana on 3 July 2024 on a free transfer from Liaoning Tieren, signing a contract that ran to the end of the 2026 season. In the Kazakhstan Premier League he made 36 appearances and scored 18 goals.
Settling has not always been possible. The Lagos-born forward began in Northern Cyprus with Doğan Türk Birliği in 2015 and moved on to Skënderbeu in Albania the following year. He spent two seasons with Rabotnički in North Macedonia, then went to Turris in Romania. Ukraine followed, where he played for Olimpik Donetsk.
The next few years were spent moving between leagues. He had a spell with Narva Trans in Estonia and joined Lahti in Finland in 2021. In 2023 he signed for Radnički 1923 in Serbia, and a year later he was at Liaoning Tieren in China. His time there was short, since Astana signed him in the middle of 2024.
Kazakhstan gave him his most productive spell in that run of clubs. In January 2026 he moved to Krylia Sovetov in the Russian Premier League. He was later loaned to AEL Limassol, which took him back to Cyprus, where his senior career had started.
