About the player
Christoph Gruber's season at Austria Salzburg was cut short almost as soon as it began. He joined the club in July 2024, when it was playing in the Regionalliga West, and in October he suffered a cruciate ligament injury that ended his campaign.
He watched from the sidelines as the team won the Regionalliga West title in 2024/25 and secured promotion to the 2. Liga. He made his debut at that higher level in November 2025 and has since played 21 league matches for the club without scoring.
Gruber grew up in the youth system at SK Bischofshofen, where he spent six years, before moving to the FC Red Bull Salzburg academy for four more. His first senior football came at USK Anif in the Regionalliga West, where he made 19 appearances and scored twice between 2018 and 2021.
He then went to the United States and played college soccer at McKendree University for two years. Returning to Austria, he joined TSV St. Johann, again in the Regionalliga West, and played 30 matches in the 2023–2024 season, scoring two goals. That season led to the move to Austria Salzburg.
He has not been capped by Austria at senior or youth level.
