About the player
David Kozel grew up around football through his father, Luboš Kozel, a former player who went on to work as a manager. The son took his own path through Dukla Prague's academy, arriving there in 2010 after starting out at FK Dobřejovice, and worked his way up through the under-19 side and reserves before making his senior debut for Dukla on 1 May 2020.
He stayed with the Prague club for four seasons, building into a regular in midfield and finishing his spell there with 104 appearances and 18 goals. His best campaign came in 2023/24, when he was Dukla's top scorer in the Czech National Football League with six goals in 24 league matches and added two more in the MOL Cup. That form earned him the club's Player of the Month award in October 2023.
On 1 July 2024, Kozel left Dukla as a free agent and joined Mladá Boleslav. He has also had a taste of international football at under-20 level with the Czech Republic, picking up two caps during the U20 Elite League.
