About the player
Gonçalo Negrão was called up to Portugal's Under-15 squad in 2018, while he was at Rio Ave. The right-back, born in Porto, had already changed youth clubs several times by then.
His youth career began at Panther Force. He then passed through CD Torrão, SC Salgueiros and SC Arcozelo before arriving at Rio Ave, where the national-team call came. Vitória SC followed, and then SL Benfica, before he moved into the club's Under-23 side.
Benfica U-23 was the last stop on that route. In July 2023 he left for UD Oliveirense in a permanent move, and he stayed there until 2024. He is right-footed and has played on the right side of defence.
On 2 September 2024 he signed for FC Penafiel of Liga Portugal 2. His contract there runs until 30 June 2027.
