About the player
Raphael Hofer won the Austrian Jugendliga U18 twice with the Red Bull Salzburg under-18s, in 2020/21 and 2021/22. It was the high point of a youth career that began at SV Mauerkirchen, where he played from 2010 to 2013. He then spent three years in the youth ranks at SV Ried before moving to the Red Bull Salzburg academy in January 2017 on a free transfer.
He was part of the Salzburg squad that won the Austrian Bundesliga in 2022/23, although most of his football that season came for Liefering in the 2. Liga. His market value reached €1.2 million in September 2022.
In July 2023 Hofer was loaned to Blau-Weiß Linz for the 2023–24 season. The same month, June 2023, had brought his debut for the Austria U21 side, against Iceland. He won six caps for the U21s between 2023 and 2024 and did not score.
He returned to the Red Bull Salzburg senior setup in 2025. In January 2025 he went on loan to TSV Hartberg. In July 2025 he left on a free transfer for the Slovenian club NS Mura.
Hofer moved again in July 2026, joining SV Austria Salzburg from Mura on a free transfer. Most of his moves as a professional have been loans or free transfers rather than paid deals.
