About the player
Rafael Uzcátegui came through the youth academy at Mineros de Guayana, making his professional debut for the Venezuelan club in October 2021 and scoring his first senior goal against Deportivo Lara the following September. The centre-back moved on in January 2024, joining Colombia's Boyacá Chicó and debuting for the club that February, before the switch to the Philadelphia Union system in 2025 that brought him to MLS Next Pro football.
At international level, Uzcátegui represented Venezuela at both under-20 and under-23 level in 2023, appearing 13 times for the U-20s and eight times for the U-23s, including a run at the South American U-20 Championship. He has not featured for the senior national side.
Now with Philadelphia Union II, the Puerto Ordaz-born defender is both-footed as he continues his development in North American football.
