About the player
Thauan Lara has a gold medal from the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, won with Brazil's under-23 side. He scored against Honduras in the tournament. It was one of five caps he won for Brazil U23 that year, and the goal was his only one for the team.
The left-back is from Porto Alegre and spent most of his youth career at Internacional. He arrived from Bonsucesso in 2013 and stayed until 2022. His first-team debut came on 17 November 2021 in the Brazilian Série A, away to Cuiabá.
He left Internacional in 2024 and went on loan to Fortaleza, but did not make an appearance there. His move to Portugal came that July, when he signed for Alverca. He played 18 times for the club.
In the summer of 2025 he joined Santa Clara for an undisclosed fee. He was then loaned to Portimonense for the 2025/26 season, and the second-tier club is where he now plays. He has made two appearances for Portimonense so far.
Lara is left-footed and plays down the left flank. His career so far has taken him from the Internacional academy to a gold medal with the under-23s. It has since moved through three Portuguese clubs in little more than a year.
