Afc Ann Arbor

The club started in the Great Lakes Premier League in 2015, a first season that took it to the USASA Region II Final, and moved up to the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) a year later.

The route was tested early. In 2017 Lars Eckenrode became the club's first pick in the MLS Draft, selected by Toronto FC. A year later Joseph Okumu was named NPSL Player of the Year, and he went on to play professionally in Sweden, Belgium and France. Those two seasons also brought the Great Lakes Conference title, in 2017 and again in 2018, and a Midwest Region Final each time. The 2017 side added the Michigan Milk Cup. The women's team won that same cup in 2022.

Ahead of the 2020 season the club moved to USL League Two, where it plays now. The women's programme has produced Jayde Riviere, a Canadian international who played for Manchester United, and Chloe Ricketts, who became the youngest goalscorer in the USL W League at 14.

The NPSL years were spent at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, a long drive from home. After that came Skyline High School, Concordia University and Saline Hornet Stadium. The Saline stay in 2022 was forced: Ann Arbor Public Schools had restricted facility rentals during the pandemic. When those limits were lifted, the club went back to Hollway Field at Pioneer High School in 2023.

The nearest rivalry runs to Detroit City FC, a territorial one. In the Great Lakes Conference the club has also had hard games against Flint City Bucks, formerly the Michigan Bucks, and Grand Rapids FC.
