It was announced on 26 March 2024 and played that first summer in the South Central Division of USL League Two, a competition often described as pre-professional. The division was later reorganised into the Chesapeake Division.

There is no long record to read yet, and the 2025 season shows how thin the margin can be. Legion II sat top of the division after five matches, with four wins and a draw. Then Asheville City SC beat them 7-0.

The route from this team to the first team is not yet mapped in match reports. The parent club's academy has already produced signings: Jaden Servania, the first USL Academy player, signed in 2021, and Owen Jack and Diba Nwegbo, both signed in 2024. Benjamin Martinez, John Davis, Matthias Leib and Ty Sanchez have appeared for Legion II.

Against Dothan United the two sides play what they call the "Go to Church" rivalry. Games with Montgomery United and Tennessee SC are hard-fought, though neither has a name.
