Eastbourne Borough

Darren Baker's name is on the teamsheet more often than anyone else's in the club's history — more than 900 appearances. Eastbourne Borough started out in 1964 as Langney F.C., formed by friends from the Langney and Friday Street youth sides, and did not settle on its present name until 2001, by which point it had already been playing as Langney Sports for over thirty years. The nickname "The Sports" survives from that middle name.

The club worked its way up through the Sussex County League divisions across the late 1980s and 1990s before winning the Southern League Eastern Division in 2001–02, the same season it first lifted the Sussex Senior Cup. Promotion to what is now the National League followed in 2008, secured through the Conference South play-offs. Ashley Barnes spent that promotion-winning season on loan up front before going on to a Premier League career elsewhere. The club could not hold the level and went back down to Conference South in 2011.

The Sussex Senior Cup has been won three times in total, most recently in 2016. In June 2023 the club changed its badge to a Martello tower rising out of waves. Priory Lane, holding just over 3,600, remains the ground Baker's appearances were mostly made on.
