ES Agboville arrives in Ligue 1 for the first time in its history, promotion secured only months ago.

In 2023 the club won the Ivorian D3, beating OSA in the final to move up to Ligue 2. Two years later it went further, taking the Ligue 2 title after a 1-1 draw with US Tchologo that went to penalties, won 3-2. A club with an unclear founding date — Lithuanian sources trace it to 2012, under the name Entente Sportive de Kranza, though the claim finds no backing elsewhere — became a Ligue 1 side.

Matches are played at the Stade de Cotivo in Agboville, known locally as the Stade Municipal. Its listed capacity is 4,000, but for the Ligue 2 play-off against Africa Sports in May 2025, local authorities cut attendance to 1,000 for security reasons.

Ivorian sports media call the side Guerriers de l'Agnéby Tiassa, after the region the club represents, and its colours, blue and white, carry the same reference. The club brought in Brazilian striker Jackson Carlos Da Silva and a Brazilian coach, Tanton, put in charge of the youth academy.

Behind the recruitment is the club's president, Moussa Sawadogo, known in Agboville by two nicknames — "Moussa Cacao" and "Roman Abramovich".
