Großschwarzenlohe fields two departments under one roof, football since 1974 and table tennis from 1976, but the ground in the Wendelstein district still carries the weight for a village club whose senior side spent most of its life in the lower reaches of Bavarian football. The FRAPACK-Stadion, renamed in January 2021 after a naming-rights deal with the local firm, holds 1,200.

What sets the 2024/25 season apart is the route SCG took to get there: promoted out of the Kreisliga, the seventh tier, and straight through the Bezirksliga into the Landesliga Nordost without a pause, then winning that division outright to reach the Bayernliga for 2025/26.

Off the pitch, SCG markets itself as a "Herzverein", channelling fundraising towards the German Children's Hospice Association, a role that sits oddly alongside a club whose team sheets have produced no names known outside Middle Franconia. The rivalry with TSV 1860 Weißenburg, billed locally as the Jura-Derby, gives the fixture list its one recurring edge.
