Kaunitz

Alois Fortkord spent his last season on the pitch at FC Kaunitz. An injury ended it.

Founded in 1946, FC Kaunitz has never chased anything above the regional game, and its honours read accordingly: champions of Bezirksliga Westfalen 4 in 2011–12, then of Bezirksliga Westfalen 2 twice more, in 2015–16 and 2017–18, each title carrying them up into the Landesliga. They have stayed there since.

Sharing a municipality with SC Verl leaves FC Kaunitz permanently in the shadow of a professional neighbour, and the fixtures between them make the gap plain rather than close it: a 6–0 defeat in the Westfalenpokal, a 7–0 friendly loss last June. SC Verl even trains at Zum Furlbach from time to time, on the same 1,700-capacity ground FC Kaunitz calls home.

The 2024–25 season brought FC Kaunitz to within a whisker of another promotion push, finishing second in Landesliga Westfalen Staffel 1, with Pascal Hanna among the goals and Alexander Leier in goal under coaches Maik Uffelmann and Detlev Ottemeier.
