The Addis Ababa Stadium fills to 35,000 for Kedus Giorgis, and no fixture there carries the weight of a Kedus Giorgis afternoon. The ground has hosted the club through decades of dominance rather than growth into it.
The club traces back to December 1935, when George Ducas and Ayale Atnash formed it in the Arada quarter of Addis Ababa, the first football club Ethiopia had seen. It rose under Italian occupation, and its name carried the weight of that moment: Kedus Giorgis, Saint George in Amharic. Yellow and red went into the kit for the same reason, pulled straight from the national flag.
Supporters call the side The Horsemen , and little in Ethiopian football matches what they have collected under that name: 31 league titles, stretching from 1950 to as recently as 2023, alongside ten Ethiopian Cups and sixteen Super Cups.
Recent seasons have kept the club among sides such as Addis Ababa Ketema and Sidama Bunna in the domestic league, and City Cup wins in 2022 and 2025 show the trophy habit has not faded.
