Zaine Pierre captained Saint Lucia and played abroad for Genoa and W Connection. In 2024 he took La Clery through the first season of the island's Semi-Professional Football League (SPFL) with a domestic treble. La Clery won the inaugural Tier 1 title, beating Central Castries 3-1 in the final. They also took the SLFA Island Cup in the Premier Division, beating Dennery North 4-1, and the Blackheart Knockout Football Big 8 Tournament.

The final against Central Castries was also the meeting of the two teams the Castries derby is named for.

The club's roots are in the La Clery district of the capital. The league was set up in 1982, and its first district tournament was played in April 1983. Hayden "Stone" Forde, one of its key founders, helped build that structure. The Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) has its headquarters there, which puts the national governing body in the same neighbourhood as one of its leading clubs. Matches are played on the La Clery Playing Field, which has been upgraded for semi-professional football.

The 2024 title took the club into the 2025 CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield as Saint Lucia's representative. Andrus Remy, a centre-forward, won 15 caps for Saint Lucia, and the defender Doneal Lionel and the attackers Yanic Noel and Erickson Reid are also former internationals.

The club honours its older names as well. Stanley Phillips, the Sayers brothers and Earl "Ball Hog" Jean are among them, and so is Forde.
