Lustenau

Lustenau go into 2025/26 in the Regionalliga West, back at the third tier for the first time since 2006 after winning the Eliteliga Vorarlberg last season. Getting there again closes a gap that opened in 2013, when the club went bankrupt during its stretch in the second tier and had to restart in the 2. Landesliga, the lowest amateur rung in the province.

The rebuild was quick by the standard of such collapses: back-to-back titles took them to the Landesliga within two years, and the Regionalliga return followed a decade later. It is a pattern the club has lived through before in miniature — Vorarlberg League titles won and then defended in clusters, four in a row in the 1930s, then again either side of 1990s.

Founded on 20 September 1907 out of the gymnastics section of Turnverein Lustenau, the club is the oldest football side in the province. Between 1945 and 1947 it played as FC Rapid Lustenau. Its ground, the Stadion an der Holzstraße, opened on 12 April 1925; during the professional years the first team sometimes moved to the larger Reichshofstadion, shared with local rival SC Austria Lustenau, and matches between Vorarlberg's clubs are still known collectively as the Ländle-Derby.
