Reading United

Don Thomas Stadium sits on the campus of Exeter Township Senior High School. Reading United play there in black, gold and navy blue, colours taken from the civic seal of Reading and the Pennsylvania state flag. Their motto is "Strength in Unity".

The club began as the Reading Rage in 1995, under Archie Moylan, a former Penn State All-American. Two years later the Rage won the D3 Pro League Mid-Atlantic Division and were named Franchise of the Year. Moylan died of cancer in 2000, and the USL named an award after him. The club stepped out of the professional ranks into the amateur Premier Development League (PDL) to concentrate on developing players.

Brendan Burke took over as head coach in 2008 and stayed until 2013. In his first season the team won its first PDL Eastern Conference title and reached the national semi-finals. In 2010, the 15th anniversary, the Rage became Reading United AC and signed on as the official minor league affiliate of the MLS side Philadelphia Union.

The closest the club came to a national title was in 2018 and 2019, when it reached two finals in a row. Calgary Foothills FC won the first. Flint City Bucks won the second 1-0 in extra time. Reading United's place in the 2020 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, offered to them as finalists, went unused because of scheduling conflicts.

Ocean City Nor'easters are the rivals, and the two have met more than 50 times since 1996.
