SV Drochtersen/Assel

Two failed attempts to merge in 1974 preceded it, and even then the youth sides went first, joining forces in 1975 while the senior football departments held out a while longer. TV Germania Drochtersen and VTV Assel finally put their teams together on 19 April 1977, and the club that resulted has spent most of the decades since playing in front of a couple of thousand people at the Kehdinger Stadion, a ground that can swell past 7,000 with temporary stands when the occasion calls for it.

The occasion came twice, in the DFB-Pokal, where a side from Lower Saxony's lower tiers found itself drawn against Bayern Munich in 2018 and Schalke 04 the following year. Those ties sat either side of a run through the Niedersachsenpokal that yielded three titles, in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

The bigger step came from the league itself. Promotion from the Landesliga Lüneburg in 2011–12 was followed three seasons later by the Niedersachsenliga title, won under Alexander Neumann's goals as the club's top scorer that year, and that title took the club up to the Regionalliga Nord. Ashton Götz, who arrived from the Hamburger SV academy in 2019 and stayed until 2023, played through that era in the club's red and blue.

Rivalries with VfB Oldenburg, Eintracht Norderstedt and VfB Lübeck have filled the regular calendar, but none of them carried the club further.
