Vitória ES

Two brothers, Taciano and Constâncio Neves Espíndula, put the club together in Vitória in 1912, giving Espírito Santo its first professional football side. The Foot-Ball Club Victoria name did not last, but the blue and white did, along with the eagle on the crest that gave the club its nickname, Blue Eagle.

State football is where Vitória made its name, ten Campeonato Capixaba titles running from 1920 to 2019, spread across generations rather than clustered in one golden run. The Copa Espírito Santo has gone their way five times too, most recently in 2025, and in January 2026 they added the Supercopa dos Campeões Capixabas. National football has been a rarer visitor: a single season in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A back in 1977 ended in 40th place, and since then the club has cycled through the lower national divisions, spending recent years in the Série D.

The academy sent Bebeto, Dida and Vampeta out into the world before the Brazil national team made them household names. Further back, in 1979, Vitória travelled to South Korea and won the President's Cup, an odd, isolated line on the record of a club that otherwise built its reputation close to home.

Matches against Desportiva Ferroviária carry their own name, the Clássico das Emoções, and that rivalry still draws the sharpest interest in the capital. The Eagle's Nest, expanded in 2025, a reminder that the club's ambitions stay tied to the size of its city rather than the scale of its history.
