Stade Demba Diop

The stadium has survived a long time. It opened in 1963 under a different name, before being renamed after Demba Diop, a minister who was killed that same year. The artificial surface was laid later, covering what was once grass, and the capacity sits somewhere between fifteen thousand and thirty thousand, depending on who you ask. Matches are played here, but the ground also hosts wrestling and concerts. A section of the concrete gave way under pressure, and eight people died. The cup final was abandoned, the title awarded to the visitors, and the stadium closed until the work was done.
