Alberto Abdiel Quintero Medina

Alberto Quintero made his senior debut for Panama on 23 August 2007, against Guatemala, and has gone on to become one of the most capped players in the country's history, with 142 appearances and seven goals to his name. That longevity has carried him through six CONCACAF Gold Cups, a Copa América campaign in 2016, and, most notably, the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he played every minute of Panama's three group matches against Belgium, Tunisia and England despite carrying a foot injury into the tournament.

His club career has taken him well beyond Panama. After starting out at Chorrillo FC, he moved to Spain for spells with FC Cartagena and Ontinyent CF, then returned home to Plaza Amador before a two-year stint at Independiente Medellín in Colombia. From there he went to Mexico with Lobos BUAP, then to Peru, first with Universitario de Deportes and later Cienciano, before coming back to Plaza Amador in 2024.

In January 2026, the Uruguayan newspaper El País named him the best footballer in Panama in its traditional annual survey, recognition that reflects the consistency he has shown across a career built more on longevity and adaptability across leagues than on a single defining transfer. He has also been nominated for the Premio Rommel Fernández, the award handed out by the Panamanian Football Federation.
