Duncan McGuire

Duncan McGuire's route to Major League Soccer ran through Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha, where he was twice named to the All-Nebraska First Team, and then Creighton University, where he redshirted his first year before establishing himself as a forward for the Bluejays. In the summer of 2022, while still a college player, he turned out for Lane United FC in USL League Two, scoring four goals in 11 appearances. That same year he won the MAC Hermann Trophy, college soccer's top individual honour, before signing with Orlando City SC.

His form in Orlando earned him a senior United States call-up, and he made his debut for the national team on 20 January 2024, coming on as a substitute in a 1–0 friendly defeat to Slovenia. He had already been capped at U-23 level, scoring against Japan in October 2023, and that form carried him into selection for the United States squad at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He started the opening match against France, a 3–0 defeat, then appeared from the bench as the team beat New Zealand 4–1 and Guinea 3–0, though he did not find the net in the tournament.

Not every move materialised. A reported transfer to Blackburn Rovers in early 2024 fell through because of an administrative error, and McGuire never played for the English club. He instead continued his career in MLS with Orlando City before his move to Houston Dynamo FC was announced on 10 July 2026, a deal worth an initial $1,250,000 in General Allocation Money with a further $1,150,000 available in performance-based add-ons, and a sell-on clause retained by Orlando City.
