Gonçalo Bento Soares Cardoso

Gonçalo Cardoso's career began at home, moving through the youth ranks at AD Marco 09, Penafiel and Boavista before making his senior debut for the latter in the 2018–2019 season, when he made 15 appearances. That form earned him a move to West Ham United in 2019 for a fee reported at around €3 million, but he never made a first-team appearance for the club. Instead, he was loaned out, first at FC Basel in 2021–2022, where he made 13 appearances in all competitions, and then at Real Betis B in 2022, where he scored once in 16 outings.

He left West Ham for C.S. Marítimo in 2022, though his time there was limited to two appearances for the club's reserve side. A move to Bulgaria followed in 2023, joining FC Lokomotiv 1929 Sofia, where he made 18 appearances and scored once. In August 2024, Cardoso joined F.C. Paços de Ferreira, signing for around €100,000 and taking the number 2 shirt.

At youth international level, Cardoso was a regular for Portugal's under-19 side, earning nine caps and scoring three goals. He played every minute of the 2019 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, a tournament in which Portugal reached the final before losing to Spain. He also collected five caps for the under-20 side during the 2019–20 Under 20 Elite League. He has not been capped by the senior Portugal national team.
