About the player
Leonel Nazareno made his senior debut for L.D.U. Quito in 2016 after coming through the club's academy, having joined from El Nacional's youth ranks in 2010. In October 2018, manager Pablo Repetto suspended him from the first team and sent him to the reserves after he made public comments expressing frustration over a lack of trust in him.
He moved on as a free agent to CD Aampetra, then to Libertad F.C.
His history with LDU Quito resurfaced in July 2026, when Leones del Norte beat his old club 1-0.
He has not been capped by the Ecuador national team.
