Matvey Uzhgin

Matvey Uzhgin began playing football at the age of seven before moving into the Dynamo-2000 Barnaul academy at ten, and later joined the Yenisey Krasnoyarsk youth setup at seventeen. He made his professional debut for Yenisey Krasnoyarsk in the Football National League against Nizhny Novgorod, going on to make nine appearances that season, though his only youth-level representative football came with three matches for Yenisey-2 in the Russian Youth Championship.

When Yenisey did not offer him a new contract, Uzhgin moved on a free transfer to Chayka Peschanokopskoye, where he became a mainstay across two spells, making more than seventy appearances in the Second League and First League and scoring twice.

His form for Tekstilshchik Ivanovo, which he joined on a free transfer at the start of 2026, proved decisive: in fourteen matches he scored three goals as the club won its Second League group and earned promotion to the First League. That season persuaded SKA-Khabarovsk to sign him on a free transfer on a contract running to the middle of 2027, and he had made five appearances in the First League for his new club by the middle of the year. Across his career he has now passed 120 professional matches.

A right-footed right-back, Uzhgin has named Achraf Hakimi as the defender he looks up to, and has said that had football not worked out for him, he would have pursued ice hockey instead.
