Bordeaux

Stéphan Tartari wore the Boxers de Bordeaux jersey from 1998, the year the club took shape as Bordeaux Gironde Hockey 2000, until 2008, and the number 4 has not been issued since. Behind that decade sat an older, failed attempt: a Bordeaux team had skated under various names since 1974, folded, and left the Boxers to start again almost from nothing. They spent years working back up through the divisions, took the Division 1 title in 2014–15, and used it to reach the Ligue Magnus, the top flight, for the first time.

Grenoble's Brûleurs de Loups became the team the Boxers kept running into when it mattered. They lost the 2023–24 final to Rouen's Dragons, then met Grenoble in the 2025–26 final and won it 4–1, the club's first Ligue Magnus championship. Kévin Dusseau, who has played more than 600 Ligue Magnus matches almost entirely in Bordeaux colours, was still on the roster to see it through.

Locally the fixture with more heat is the Derby du Sud-Ouest against Anglet Hormadi. Nationally, the Coupe de France has stayed out of reach; two semi-final exits, in 2016–17 and 2017–18, are as close as the club has come. The academy has had its own success, taking the French U18 title in 2025.

Home games are played at the Patinoire de Mériadeck, which holds 3,500 for hockey, in red and black, in a city better known across France for its wine than its ice.
