Iceland's under-17 side has won the Nordic Under-17 Football Championship twice, both times settled by a single goal: a 1–0 win over Denmark in the 2011 final, and the same scoreline against Finland in 2018.

Getting past the group stage of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship proved harder to repeat. That exception came in 2019, when the team topped Group C with wins over Russia (3–1) and Greece (4–2) and a draw against Spain.

The team traces back to March 1981, when it lost 3–1 to Scotland in Kópavogur in its first international match. Before the age group was renamed in 2002, the same players competed under the Under-16 banner, and Iceland's tournament record spans both eras: 16th in 1985, 11th on three separate occasions through the 1990s, and a best pre-2019 finish of seventh in 2012.

Home matches are played at Laugardalsvöllur in Reykjavik. Unlike that senior team, known as Strákarnir okkar, the under-17s carry no popular nickname of their own.

Part of a pipeline that has also sent Birkir Bjarnason, Kolbeinn Sigþórsson and Arnór Ingvi Traustason up through the ranks.
