The Thuwunna Youth Training Center Stadium in Yangon holds 50,000 seats. The Chinthe Ladies, as Myanmar's women call themselves, share that ground and the shield with the Chinthe on it, the mythical lion of Burmese lore that has stood on the men's crest as well.

The team stepped onto the international stage on 5 December 1995, drawing 1–1 with the Philippines at the Southeast Asian Games in Chiang Mai. From there it moved into the region's main tournaments, reaching the AFC Women's Championship in 2003 and the AFF Women's Championship in 2004.

Khin Moe Wai's 130 caps stand as the most anyone has worn the shirt, a record now matched in appearances by the current captain, Khin Marlar Tun, who has added 33 goals of her own. Win Theingi Tun remains the side's leading scorer with 86.

2025 brought a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games, four years after the 2021 coup unsettled the country without stopping the team's fixtures or its standing with FIFA. The same year produced the International Women's Championship. Against Thailand and Vietnam, the two sides who define women's football in the region, Myanmar keeps meeting in tournaments like the AYA Bank Tri-Nations Cup.
