Al Muharraq Stadium

Al Muharraq Stadium Opened in 1928, it has witnessed nearly a century of local football without the dramatic overhauls common elsewhere. Floodlights and a video scoreboard were added, yet the original structure remains.

The crowd of 1,468 on that day was modest, but the occasion was significant. The pitch itself is natural grass, a fact confirmed by various sources, and it has hosted matches where the stakes were far higher than the numbers suggest.

The 2021 AFC Cup Final took place here, with Al-Muharraq SC defeating Nasaf 3–0. That victory marked their second AFC Cup title, a result that resonates through the local community. The stadium also serves as home for Al-Muharraq SC, Bahrain SC, and Al-Hala SC, though its primary association remains with the club that calls it home.

The capacity of 20,000 is not often reached, yet the atmosphere when it is matters more than the size. The renovation overseen by the Malaysian firm Michael KC Cheah & Partners did not erase the history of the place; it simply ensured it could continue to host important matches. The ground stands as a testament to the longevity of football in the region, where the game has been played on this soil for nearly a hundred years.
