Al-Salt Stadium

Al-Salt Stadium, situated in the Zahar district, has stood in the same spot since 1965. The ground carries the weight of its history in its name; it was known as Prince Hussein Stadium and later Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II Stadium before reverting to Al-Salt Stadium. The capacity sits at 7,500, a figure accepted by the league and the national football association, though some reports suggest a smaller footprint of 1,000 seats.

It serves as the fortress for Al-Salt SC. The surface itself remains a matter of local knowledge rather than public record; sources do not confirm if it is natural grass or artificial turf. What is visible, however, is the state of the facilities. Reports from late 2024 paint a picture of neglect, with issues regarding cleanliness and lighting casting a shadow over the evenings. The stadium does not hide these flaws.

Confusion sometimes arises regarding a separate project in Amra City, a planned 46,000-seat venue also bearing the name Prince Hussein Stadium. That project is distinct and does not alter the reality of the existing ground in Al-Salt. Here, the match day routine is simpler.

The location in Zahar keeps the stadium grounded in the community. It is not a destination for tourists but a working venue for the city. The lack of detailed architectural history or a specific builder’s name adds to its anonymity. It is a place where the focus remains on the ninety minutes. The stadium is a container for the game, nothing more.
