Mayesbrook Park

The ground does not announce itself. The field itself is tucked away in a wider park that feels more like a local commons than a sports complex. The pitch is a 3G artificial surface, a practical choice for a venue that shares its time with other teams. West Essex FC and Romford FC have both found a way through to the schedule here, sharing the space with Barking FC, who have played at Mayesbrook Park since 1973.

The reason they moved is part of the local memory. The local council forced them out of their former home, Barking Park, and the club found new ground in Dagenham. The modern 3G pitch sits alongside natural grass areas for other sports within the 43-hectare park, which was built by the London County Council to serve the Becontree Housing Estate. The boundary between Essex and Greater London runs through this patch, a fact that rests quietly in the geography rather than in any signage.

Capacity sits at 2,500, with roughly 200 seats and the rest standing. It is not a large ground, and the crowd does not rise above the level of the pitch on most days. The record remains specific: 1,972 people turned out for the FA Cup Second Round match against Aldershot Town in December 1978. The game ended 2–1 to the visitors, and the number has not been exceeded since. The stadium itself is functional, lit by floodlights, and used for non-league fixtures when the calendar allows.
