Menemen İlçe Stadyumu

The stadium sits in the Kazımpaşa neighbourhood of Menemen, a district of İzmir. Menemen İlçe Stadyumu is not the grandest ground in the city, but its setting is distinct.

Above the main stand, a white building houses the club offices, with the name of the football club visible on the facade. The ground has changed its name over the years. It was once called Menemen Tahir Şahin Stadyumu after a former mayor, but the local population and the press have reverted to calling it Menemen İlçe Stadyumu. The official capacity is listed as 4,420, though on a day when the local team hosted a bigger opponent, the crowd swelled past that limit. It is a working-class venue, where the attention is on the match rather than the architecture. The pitch is natural grass, kept in good condition despite the modest facilities. There are no luxury suites or media centres, just the essentials for a team fighting in the lower tiers of Turkish football. The mural on the exterior wall, painted with whales and fish, hints at the coastal nature of the wider region, even though the stadium itself is inland.
