The ground sits on top of something else. A multi-storey building took shape at the southern end during the renovation between 1999 and 2007, and the pitch was rebuilt above it.

CD Mensajero inherited this venue after their old pitch at Campo de Bajamar was demolished. The stadium has been in use since December 17, 1977, but its current form is entirely the result of the 2007 rebuild. That work replaced the natural grass with an artificial surface. The capacity is listed as 6,000, though the exact number is not settled. The old terraces were either kept or rebuilt to fit the new footprint.

It has hosted matches against teams from the top two divisions of Spanish football. Real Zaragoza came here on December 1, 2021, during the volcanic eruption on the island, and the visit was seen as a gesture of solidarity.
