Stadio Tre Fontane

Stadio Tre Fontane sits in the EUR district of Rome. Built between 1957 and 1959, the ground was conceived as a training facility and sports complex for the 1960 Rome Olympic Games, where it hosted field hockey matches.

The playing surface is natural grass, a consistent feature since the stadium’s inception. Today, the ground serves as a home for AS Roma Femminile and the club’s Primavera side, alongside the local rugby club Rugby Roma Olimpic. It has also hosted matches for the Italy Women’s National Team.

While it does not host the men’s first-team fixtures played at the Stadio Olimpico, Tre Fontane holds a specific place in history. It is the training ground where AS Roma, under manager Nils Liedholm, prepared for their second Serie A title in the 1960–61 season. More recently, it became the site of a historic achievement for the women’s team, who secured their first Serie A title there in April 2023. That match drew 2,767 spectators, setting an attendance record for the venue.

The stadium has undergone significant changes over the decades. A major refurbishment launched in 2014–2015, led by an association including Profit N.G. and Dabliu sports club, reopened the ground in 2016 after years of disuse. Further updates in late 2023 installed new lighting, media areas, and hospitality zones. Despite these modernisations, the character of the place remains rooted in its origins as a multi-purpose sports complex.
