Stadion Partizana

Stadion Partizana in Belgrade is a habitat of contrasts, defined as much by its skyline as by its history. Those earlier sections, constructed between 1948 and 1951, retain the heavy, functionalist character of their Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) origins. The building was originally JNA Stadium, a name it kept until 1989, when FK Partizan purchased it from the army and renamed it Partizan Stadium.

A renovation in 1998 converted the stadium from a mix of seating and standing terraces to an all-seater facility to comply with UEFA regulations, a shift that reduced the capacity from approximately 55,000 to its current official figure of 29,775. Since then, the venue has hosted the European Athletics Championships in 1962 and major concerts, including performances by Metallica in June 2004 and AC/DC in May 2009. The playing surface is a GrassMaster hybrid system, natural grass reinforced with artificial fibers. The stadium sits at Humska 1 in the Autokomanda neighborhood, a location that has seen the return leg of the 1998–99 UEFA Cup tie between Atlético Madrid and Obilić played here when the visitors' ground failed to meet standards.
